About an Initial EAD
An initial EAD is your first-ever work permit from USCIS. Unlike renewals, it establishes your employment authorization for the first time. The most common reason is filing I-485 โ applicants often file I-765 concurrently with their I-485 at no additional USCIS fee. The EAD allows you to work for any employer in the United States.
